The Hated Gag
Jenna was normally a calm, even tempered young woman— but every so often she would turn into a nasty shrew—verbally abusing her husband Bill —nagging. & cursing at him. Bill’s attempts to ignore this behavior never worked. Without his intervention, her mood would escalate to a full blown temper tantrum.
Therefore, every time she started getting mouthy or sarcastic, she got one warning from Bill and if not heeded, out came the gag. This she would have to wear for an hour and then Bill would take it off. After that, if she still hadn’t adjusted her attitude, then Step 2: she got another two hours of the gag plus a bare bottom paddling & early bedtime. It was rare that Bill needed to go to step 2.
Jenna hated having to wear it— it was an embarrassing admission that she had once again lost control of her mouth.
(Of course she could not be disciplined this way when they were visiting family. For this Bill kept a bar of soap in the car and she would have to hold it in her mouth all the way home. Jenna eventually learned to watch her tongue— even when provoked!)
